In a large kettle or saucepan, bring 8 cups water and 2 tablespoons margarine to a boil. While stirring, slowly add entire bag of soup mix. May Also add 2 1/2 cups cooked, cubed chicken or ham if desired. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered for approx. 45 minutes or until potatoes are tender. DO NOT BOIL. More water may be added for desired consistency. Optional: Add a can of drained Rotel tomatoes and/or sausage. May also crockpot on LOW for 3 1/2 hours.
